What is a short haul move?
This is a move that is less than 450 miles. Make sure to inquire with your moving company as you may have to pay long distance charges even for short haul moves.

What is a local move?
This usually refers to moves that are less than 100 miles and within the same state.

What is an intrastate move?
This refers to a move of more than 100 miles within the same state.

What is third party service?
This is a service contracted out to people other than the movers. It may include waterbed service, household cleaning or appliance servicing.

What is an order for service?
This is a signed written agreement authorizing your moving company to transport your goods.

Will my moving company charge me for materials?
Most moving companies will provide quilted pads for protecting your furniture at no additional cost. However, you will most likely be charged for additional supplies such as tape, packing paper and boxes.

What is a re-weigh?
Depending on the type of estimate you obtained, your goods may be re-weighed once they have been loaded on to the moving truck or van. In this case, your moving charges will be based on the re-weighed amount.

Are movers able to transport my pets?
No, moving trucks are not properly equipped to transport pets and the box can be dangerous because of heavy objects. If possible, keep your pets at a friend, family member’s or kennel during the day of your move.

What is a non-binding estimate?
This is an estimate based on the moving company’s previous experience with similar moving jobs to yours and it’s subject to change.

What is an international move?
This is a move where your items must cross an international boundary, regardless of actual distance.

What is long carry? 
You may be charged an additional fee if the moving van can’t come within a certain distance from the entrance of your destination. This is generally 75 feet, but you need to check with your particular moving company. ? 

What is valuation?
This refers to the degree of value of your shipment. A valuation charge compensates movers for assuming a greater degree of liability than the base transportation charges.

Can my movers disconnect my gas?
No, movers are not licensed to disconnect gas so you will have to hire another professional to perform this service.
